Visually impaired association holds Dindigul sit-in over alleged ₹67L misuse
On Monday, members of the Visually Impaired Rehabilitation Welfare Association held a sit-in at the Collectorate premises here, accusing certain NGOs of misusing ₹67 lakh meant for field workers' salaries under a government project in Dindigul.
They also claimed top state officials were protecting those involved.
The protest brought attention to how funds meant for differently abled support might not be reaching those who need it most.
President Kumar demands Thangavel's transfer revoked
Led by their president, Kumar, the group demanded action against officials linked to the alleged scam.
They say Differently Abled Welfare Officer Thangavel found proof of wrongdoing but was transferred instead of being supported.
Now they want his transfer revoked and a blacklisted NGO and its sister entity canceled.
Despite mediation attempts from local authorities, the protesters refused to leave and insisted a government secretary must address them directly before ending their demonstration.
