Workers rally at Jantar Mantar against new labor codes

India

Over 1,000 workers from Delhi-NCR, Haryana, UP, and Rajasthan gathered at Jantar Mantar to protest the central government's new labor codes.
Organized by MASA constituents in the Delhi NCR region, including MSS, CSTU, IMK, IFTU-S, GMUB, and BNASU, the protest brought together people from sectors like manufacturing, construction, gig work, and more—all worried about how these changes could impact their jobs.

Why should you care?

The new rules make it harder for smaller workplaces to access benefits like ESI and PF and set stricter limits on strikes.
Workers are asking for a minimum wage of ₹30,000 per month, job security, and safer conditions.
Many feel these laws could lead to more privatization, inflation, and loss of essential social services—so they're planning more protests nationwide to push for change.
