Year of tragedies: 22 dead in 3 temple accidents

India

Andhra Pradesh has faced a tough year, with three major temple accidents leaving 22 people dead and nearly 100 injured.
The most recent tragedy struck in late October at the Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Kasibugga, where a railing gave way during Ekadashi darshan, causing panic and a fatal crowd collapse.

Deadly year for temple visits

These incidents aren't just numbers—they highlight real problems with crowd safety at popular temples.
Earlier this year, seven people died when a wall collapsed near Visakhapatnam, and six more lost their lives in a stampede at Tirupati.
Most recently, the Kasibugga tragedy saw thousands gathered at a temple with a single entry-exit route when disaster hit—most victims were women and even included a young boy.

Government promises investigations, safety checks

With public concern growing, the Andhra Pradesh government is promising investigations and better safety checks at temples.
There's now extra focus on fixing infrastructure and managing crowds to help prevent future tragedies—something devotees and families are hoping will finally bring some peace of mind.
