YouTuber Rahul Easwar gets bail in cyber harassment case
Rahul Easwar, a YouTuber and television commentator, was granted bail after being arrested for allegedly revealing the identity of a sexual offense survivor and posting derogatory comments online tied to the Rahul Mamkootathil controversy.
His earlier bail plea was denied due to how serious the allegations were.
What happened in court and beyond
Easwar's lawyer said he only discussed contents of the FIR, but prosecutors argued he wasn't cooperating with the investigation.
He's one of several accused, including KPCC general secretary Sandeep Varier.
While in custody, Easwar went on a hunger strike and had to be hospitalized as his health declined.
Even though he's out on bail now—with some conditions—the investigation is still ongoing, as are Varier's anticipatory bail proceedings.
