  • By definition, a skyscraper is a building that exceeds the height of at least 100 meters or 330 ft. But we're not talking of skyrocketing heights today. Being tall doesn't translate to looking stylish.

    Eye-catching height coupled with an elegant design is what makes a skyscraper gorgeous.

  • Standing at 2,722 feet, the Burj Khalifa in UAE's commercial capital Dubai, is currently the tallest building in the world.

    It has been designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, who drew major inspiration from Islamic architecture, particularly the Great Mosque of Samarra, to build the masterpiece.

    With more than 160 stories, the Burj is three times as tall as the Eiffel Tower.

  • Standing 309 metres (1,016ft) tall, the Shard in the English capital city London is the tallest building in Western Europe.

    Modelled on a shard of glass, the building is made up of 11,000 glass panels.

    Interestingly, Italian architect Renzo Piano was inspired by the railroad lines of downtown London and church spires while designing this spectacular building.

  • One of the most recognizable buildings in the whole of US, the Empire State Building stands at a height of 1,250 feet upto the top floor, and a total of 1,454 feet, including its antenna.

    The building gets its name from the nickname for NY, the Empire State.

    Designed by Shreve, Lamb & Harmon, the building's design was changed as many as 15 times.

    Petronas Twin Towers (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)

  • Standing at a height of 452m (1,483ft), the Petronas Twin Towers in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur is an iconic 88-story pair of two towers, connected by a flying bridge at the center.

    The twin towers were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004, before they were surpassed by Taipei 101.

    Designed by late César Pelli, the towers symbolize Islamic architecture.
