Prakash Jarwal is an Indian politician who is a member of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He represents the Deoli constituency in the Delhi State Legislature, as of 2021. Previously, Jarwal worked in a multinational company as an assistant manager and later left his job to join the Anti-Corruption Movement. Following this, he joined AAP and became the youngest candidate of the party. Jarwal has sparked a lot of controversies throughout his political career. He was imprisoned for allegedly assaulting a junior engineer of the Delhi Jal Board. In 2017, Jarwal was booked for allegedly harassing and molesting a female member of the Rashtravadi Janata Party. He was again arrested the following year for assaulting Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Parekh at the residence of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Later, Jarwal was granted bail. In 2020, he was held responsible in connection with an alleged suicide case of a 52-year-old doctor. The doctor mentioned Jarwal’s name in the suicide note following which a case was registered against him on charges of abetment to suicide, criminal conspiracy, criminal intimidation, and extortion.
