Mahua Moitra moves SC over 'illegal eviction' from circuit house

Trinamool Congress (TMC) Member of Parliament Mahua Moitra has approached the Supreme Court after she was allegedly evicted from the Krishnanagar Circuit House in West Bengal. The incident took place on August 14 when district administration officials allegedly forced her to vacate at around 11:00pm. Moitra's lawyer argued that this incident raises questions of federalism and demanded an independent investigation, citing a protective order from the Calcutta High Court.

Moitra's letter to Lok Sabha Speaker
Moitra had earlier written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, alleging harassment by Nadia district authorities.
She claimed she was repeatedly asked to vacate despite being entitled to stay as an MP.
The administration allegedly started pressuring her around 10:00pm on August 14 when a crowd gathered outside chanting "Jai Shri Ram."
In her letter, Moitra highlighted concerns over safety and security for women MPs and threatened legal action.

Arrest warrant issued against Moitra
The eviction incident comes amid another legal battle for Moitra.
A court in Nadia district issued an arrest warrant against her on August 19 for failing to appear in a case over alleged remarks about the Indian Army and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The complaint invoked several sections of law relating to insulting modesty, promoting enmity, outraging religious feelings, criminal intimidation and hate speech.
