BMW 2018 X3 launched in India, starts at Rs. 49.99lakh

Bavarian Motor Works (BMW) has launched its 2018 X3 model in India. The new model comes at a starting price of Rs. 49.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for its premium mid-sized xDrive 20d Expedition variant. This new third-generation Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) comes with noticeable design changes and gets significant improvement in the body-to-weight ratio. Here's our roundup on the 2018 BMW X3.

Exterior
At a glance

In terms of design, all major changes can be observed on the front side. The 2018 X3 now features larger kidney-grille and curved headlamps. One can also notice a higher roof-line and redesigned tail lamps with a new signature light on this third-generation SUV. Notably, the car is built on a new platform with a bigger wheelbase of 2.8-metre and 4.7-metre of length.

Interiors
2018 X3 gets noticeable updates in the interiors as well

In terms of interiors, the car gets some new updates while still retaining BMW's signature style. The 2018 X3 now comes with a bigger floating touch-screen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control system and ventilated seats (optional feature). The automaker also claims best-in-class boot space with a capacity of 550-litre. Additionally, storage can be expanded up to 1600-litre by folding the 40:20:40 split rear seat.

Performance
Under the hood

In terms of body-weight ratio, the BMW X3 xDrive 20d model weighs 55kg lesser than its predecessor. Notably, 20d variant comes with a 2.0-litre engine with Twin Power Turbo technology and produces 190PS of power and 400Nm of torque. The motor comes mated to an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and BMW claims that the new X3 can reach 0-100kmph in eight seconds.

All 2018 stuff
The X3 comes loaded with hi-tech features

The 2018 BMW X3 also gets several advanced, high-tech electronic features for driving pleasure and safety. In India, the car competes against the likes of Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5, Jaguar F-Pace and the Volvo XC60. The car comes in two diesel variants - xDrive 20d Expedition variant and the higher xDrive 20d Luxury Line option which has been priced at Rs. 56.70 lakh (ex-showroom).
