Apple bans 'Tea' dating apps over data leaks
Apple just banned Tea Dating Advice and TeaOnHer from the App Store worldwide, saying both apps broke its rules on data privacy and content moderation.
The decision follows a flood of user complaints, including worries about minors' info being exposed.
Both apps leaked sensitive user data
Tea, which blew up earlier this year, let women anonymously review men from dating apps. But over the summer of 2025, it suffered a huge data breach—leaking 72,000 images like selfies and even government IDs.
Its counterpart, TeaOnHer, had similar security gaps that exposed users' IDs and private photos to basically anyone. Not great for trust or safety.
Meanwhile, copycat apps are suddenly trending on the App Store
Even though Apple pulled them down, both apps are still on Google Play for now.
Meanwhile, copycat apps like "Tea on Her & Him - Overheard" are suddenly trending on the App Store.
The original developers haven't said anything about Apple's move yet.
