Apple issues emergency iOS and iPadOS 18.7.7 update blocking DarkSword
Apple just dropped an emergency update for iOS and iPadOS 18.7.7 to stop the DarkSword exploit chain, a hacking toolkit that lets hackers grab your messages and location just from a website visit.
The fix is rolling out automatically to anyone still using iOS and iPadOS 18.4 through 18.7 with automatic software updates enabled, so your device should get safer without you lifting a finger.
DarkSword on GitHub used in attacks
DarkSword is a nasty hack making the rounds online, especially after a new version popped up on GitHub.
It's been used in targeted attacks in places like Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Malaysia, and Ukraine.
Apple recommends updating to iOS or iPadOS 26 for even stronger protection and suggests turning on Lockdown Mode if you want extra security: just check your settings to make sure you're covered!
