Apple slashes trade-in values for most devices in US

Technology

Apple just lowered the trade-in values for most of its devices in the US, both online and in stores, starting November 2024.
While nearly everything from iPhones to iPads took a hit, the iPad Air actually got a small boost.
The 12-inch MacBook has quietly dropped off the trade-in list.

iPhone 16 Pro Max drops from $700 to $670

If you're thinking of upgrading, expect less credit for your old tech.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max now gets you $670 instead of $700, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max dropped sharply from $630 to $470.
Even standard iPads and minis saw slight dips.
On the bright side, the Mac Pro's value jumped up to $2,520—and if you have an iPhone SE (3rd gen), its value stays steady at $80.

Apple's trade-in value adjustments

This move lines up with Apple's usual pattern after launching new models.
It means upgrade budgets might stretch a bit less this year, but the impact on Apple's sales remains to be seen.
