Google launches AI agents to automate forward-deployed engineers' tasks
Google's rolling out AI agents to handle tasks that used to be done by its forward-deployed engineers, basically, the folks who helped companies set up and manage their AI tools.
These new AI systems dig through tons of files and contracts to organize data, making things like creating knowledge graphs way faster.
Virgin Media O2 recently used Google's AI to merge 20,000 datasets, a job that would have taken ages by hand.
Google admits AI needs human oversight
Even with all this automation, Google admits its AI isn't perfect yet. It still needs people to check for mistakes and keep things accurate.
As Google Cloud Vice President Andi Gutmans puts it, "If you want to move to activating 100% of your enterprise data, you're not going to be able to hire enough people to make that happen."
Still, Google Cloud plans to hire hundreds of forward-deployed engineers (FDEs) to help customers develop applications using its Gemini AI tools.
