Google Messages for Android beta unveils major home page redesign
Google Messages for Android is currently in the beta channel, with a big home page redesign.
Now, you'll see pinned chats right at the top, kind of like iMessage on iOS, which makes finding your favorite conversations easier, though it does mean you'll see less of your message history at a glance.
There's also a new floating search button at the bottom for quicker access, and the Gemini shortcut has moved up next to your profile picture.
Messages search button aids 1-handed use
These updates are being tested with beta users first, so not everyone will get them right away: some people are seeing all the changes at once, while others are getting them in stages.
The redesigned search button is especially handy for one-handed use and comes with some smooth animations.
Overall, Google is aiming to make Messages feel more modern and easier to use.
