Google swaps Android TV's 'Discover' tab for a new 'Free' hub
Google just swapped out the old "Discover" tab on Android TV for a new "Free" hub, rolling out as of December 17.
Now, a wide selection of ad-supported movies, shows, and live channels are gathered in one easy-to-find spot—making it simpler to watch stuff without paying extra.
What's inside the 'Free' hub?
The "Free" hub curates sections like "Top free picks for you," trending lists such as "Top 10 in the United States free with ads," and even personalized suggestions (think: "If you like Saturday Night Live").
Discover recommendations haven't disappeared—they've just moved into your Home feed.
Available on more devices + more free content
The update is showing up on Android TV 10 devices, so lots of users will see it soon.
It's all part of Google's push to highlight ad-supported content—including hundreds of FAST channels from partners like Tubi, Plex, and Pluto TV—so there's always something new (and free) to stream.
