India leads BRICS science ministers in Chennai adopting 'Chennai Consensus'
The BRICS Science Ministerial just wrapped up in Chennai, with India leading the way and all five countries, Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, agreeing on the new "Chennai Consensus."
The big idea? Work together on science and tech to build a more sustainable and inclusive future for everyone.
Chennai Consensus highlights AI and startups
Key topics included AI, quantum tech, advanced materials, biotech, health, and climate.
The Chennai Consensus welcomes the BRICS Youth Startup Platform and is considering a BRICS Startup Innovation Fund for early- and growth-stage start-ups.
There's also a framework for greater access to research infrastructure, joint research and capacity building through the BRICS GRAIN network.
The next Ministerial Meeting is scheduled under China's Chairship in 2027.
