Nubia's gaming-centric, Red Magic 5G smartphone goes official

Expanding its line-up of gaming smartphones, Nubia has launched the Red Magic 5G in China. The high-end smartphone comes with a 144Hz AMOLED screen, a 64MP triple camera, 5G support, and top-tier internals including up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. However, there is no word on its availability in India as of now. Here's our roundup.

Red Magic 5G: At a glance

The Red Magic 5G sports an edge-to-edge screen featuring ultra-slim bezels on top and bottom, and touch-sensitive shoulder buttons for an improved gaming experience. On the rear, the glass panel with angular patterns houses a triple rear camera with LED flash. Further, the handset offers a 6.65-inch AMOLED screen with a full-HD+ (1080x2340 pixels) resolution, an impressive 144Hz refresh rate, and 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers

The triple rear camera setup on the Red Magic 5G comprises a respectable 64MP (f/1.8) sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and another 2MP lens for macro photography. For selfies, video calling, and face unlock, the handset houses an 8MP (f/2.0) front-facing snapper.

    Under the hood

The Red Magic 5G sports a flagship Snapdragon 865 octa-core processor, coupled with up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. The phone runs on Android 10-based Red Magic OS and packs a solid 4,500mAh battery with 55W fast-charging support. In addition, the handset comes with a built-in liquid-cooling system and offers all the latest connectivity options.

    And, what is the pricing?

As for the pocket-pinch, the Red Magic 5G starts at CNY 3,799 (approximately Rs. 40,300) for the entry-level 8GB/128GB variant and goes up to CNY 4,999 (roughly Rs. 53,000) for the top-end model with 16GB/256GB configuration. The pre-bookings for the handset are live in China, but there is no word on its availability in global markets as of now.
