Study: 42 minutes bright light daily may reduce dementia risk
Technology
A big study just found that getting at least 42 minutes of bright light each day (think sunlight or strong indoor lighting) might cut your risk of dementia.
The effect was even stronger for night owls, with up to 41% lower risk in some groups, and people with genetic risk factors also showed lower risk, including up to 27% lower risk for APOE e4 carriers.
Researchers recommend more daytime bright light
Researchers say our mostly indoor lifestyles mean we're missing out on this easy brain boost.
They suggest adding more bright light to your daily routine (especially during the day) could help keep your mind sharp as you age.
