This app tells which celebrity you look like (with precision)

    What's the story

After FaceApp's gender and age swapping capabilities, another face-editing app has gone viral on the internet, Gradient.

The app analyzes your face and uses algorithms to show your celebrity lookalike - an idea that has taken social media by storm over the past few days.

Even celebrities like Jimmy Kimmel, Diplo, and the Kardashians have fallen for it!

    Here's all about Gradient.

    Idea

Match your face with your celebrity doppelganger

Just like FaceApp's concept of showing what you would look like in your old age, Gradient is using computer processing to show your celebrity doppelganger.

Now, the idea of showing the world the celebrity you look similar to has caught on pretty well with the internet community; millions of people have downloaded the app and many have even shared the results on social media.

    Information

Sometimes, it even matches faces with historic personalities

The app mostly matches faces with those of celebrities, but sometimes, it can even use your facial features to make a match with a person from history. For instance, Benjamin Franklin.

    Working

Presumably, AI is being used here

While Gradient has been there as a photo editor for a long time, the ability to show celeb lookalikes was introduced just recently.

The developer of the app, a company named Ticket to the Moon Inc., has not detailed the app's working. But, it appears to be using machine learning to match the facial features of a person with that of renowned celebs.

    Usage

Using the app is pretty easy too

In order to find your own lookalike, download and launch Gradient on your phone and head over to the section dedicated to celeb lookalike.

The option will then prompt you to upload your photo. Once done, the system will process the image and show the celeb you look like.

It shows the lookalike in different formats, even offers the option to make another match.

    Other features

You can even try other features

Along with the standout feature, you could also try regular photo-editing options on Gradient, like applying beauty filters, changing skin tones, and more.

The app has grown extremely popular. But, unlike FaceApp, which was developed by a Russian company, no one has raised alarms over this one. However, developer details are scant in this case as well.

    Do you know?

    How much does it cost

You can play around with the app for free for first three days. Once the trial period is over, you will be charged at $19.99/month if you forget to cancel the subscription. One might argue that it is on a higher side.
