Google Home app gets major update: Check what's new
What's the story
The latest version of the Google Home app, 4.1, is now available for download on Android and iOS platforms. This is the first major update since its redesign, bringing a range of improvements and fixes based on user feedback. The new version expands the Ask Home feature to more Google Home Premium subscribers, and improves scrolling experience on iOS devices.
User interface improvements
Fixes for 'All on' button and Ask Home brief
The new update also brings some much-needed fixes for a better user experience. On Android devices, the "All on" button for lights in the Lights category now works as intended, graying out when not all lights are turned on. The issue where Ask Home sometimes referred to "today's Home Brief" while reading yesterday's brief has also been fixed.
Feature rollout
Ask Home feature expands to more countries
The Ask Home feature is currently in early access in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland. Users will be notified via email once they are accepted into this program. Ahead of its wider release, Google has also expanded the sign-up for this feature to several other countries including Japan, Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Norway, Sweden, and Mexico.
