Here's how to remove ads on your Xiaomi smartphone
What's the story
While Xiaomi makes great budget mobile phones, a major concern for users is the annoying ads in MIUI, the company's Android-based firmware. Users are often bombarded with promotional messages from pre-installed apps such as Mi Browser, Mi Music, and Mi Video among others. However, there is a work-around to disable ads on your Xiaomi phone running MIUI 10. Here's how you can do it.
Step #1
Disable msa and personalized ad recommendations
To disable msa, make sure you are connected to the Internet before proceeding. Go to Settings > Additional Settings > Authorization & revocation > and set msa to Off. Wait for 10 seconds before you tap Revoke. If you see "Couldn't revoke authorization", try a few more times before this permission is revoked. Now, go to to Settings > Additional Settings > Privacy > Ad services Personalized ad recommendations and set it to Off.

Remove ads from Mi File Manager in MIUI 10
Xiaomi's Mi File Manager is also cluttered with ads. However, you can have a cleaner experience by removing ads from Mi File Manager. To start, open Mi File Manager and tap the hamburger icon on the top-left. Now, tap About > Recommendations and turn it Off. If you have app folders, tap the name of the folder and then disable Promoted apps.

Remove ads from MIUI Cleaner and Mi Video
To remove ads from the MIUI Cleaner, open the MIUI Cleaner app and tap the brush icon on the top-right. Now, tap the gear icon on the top-right and turn off Receive recommendations. To remove ads from the Mi Video app, open Mi Video and tap on Account >Settings and then set Online recommendations to Off. Further, set Push notifications to Off.

Remove ads from Mi Browser, Mi Security, and Mi Music
To remove ads in Mi Security, go to Settings > System app settings > Security > Receive recommendations Off. For Mi Music, go to Settings > System app settings > Music > Receive recommendations Off. For Mi Browser, go to Settings > System app settings > Browser > Privacy & security > Recommended for you > Off. To completely remove ads from Mi Browser, go to Settings > System app settings > Browser > Advanced > Set start page > and set it to your preferred homepage.

Lastly, disable spam notifications for an ad-free mobile experience
Go to Settings > Notifications > App notifications. Now, for each app that's sending you unwanted notifications, disable notifications. However, do note that this step will block all notifications from the app including the spammy ones.
