In an international career spanning over 13 years, English cricketer Alec Stewart was an image of passion and panache. A wicketkeeper-batsman, when he was in the mood, there were very few who could match him when it came to drives or pulls. Stewart made his international debut in 1989 in an ODI against Sri Lanka. He is the third most capped player in ODIs for England. He made his Test debut against West Indies in 1990. It was only fitting that he made his debut against the West Indies as they turned out to be his favorite opposition. In England's famous win at Kensington Oval in 1994, in what was Windies' first loss at the ground since 1935, he became only the seventh English batsman to score centuries in both innings of a Test match. In 1998, he became captain of the English team after Mike Atherton resigned. His captaincy only lasted for 12 months, though, due to a loss against Australia and flopping in the 1999 World Cup. Stewart continued to play for England till 2003 and became only the fourth batsman to score a hundred in his 100th Test.
