When it comes to the greatest Indian spinner of all-time, Anil Kumble undoubtedly leads the list.
Known for his deadly leg-spin (leg-break googly), he has claimed more than 600 wickets in Test cricket and is the third-highest wicket-taker in the format.

Most Test and international wickets by an Indian

The first and foremost record is the one we said above as he is an Indian to have claimed the most Test wickets, of 619.
He is also the third-most successful bowler in the format, as he is right behind other greats like Shane Warne (708) and Muttiah Muralitharan (800).
He also has the third-most international wickets of 956, after Warne and Muralitharan.

10-wicket innings haul
Claimed 10 wickets in a Test innings

Kumble holds a rare, but incredible, feat of claiming 10 wickets in an innings of a Test match.
He did so against arch-rivals Pakistan on February 7, 1999, at Delhi's Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium.
He finished with figures of 10/74 in the innings, as Pakistan lost by 212 runs.
He is only the second bowler to do so after Jim Laker of England.

Most ODI wickets
Most ODI wickets by an Indian

Kumble left his mark in the ODIs as well, as he finished as the highest wicket-taker for the side, of 337.
Incidentally, he also finished with the most wickets in the format in a calendar year, of 61, in 1996.
Overall, he is the fifth bowler to do so, and the third by a bowler of any nationality.

Kumble also holds a unique record as he has claimed the most ODI wickets for India at a particular venue. This happens to be 56 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, where he played 40 ODIs and has a bowling average of 27.05.

In another unique feat, Kumble holds the record of bowling the most balls in Test career for India. He has bowled a total of 40,850 deliveries in his Test career, which is also the second in the format overall. Muralitharan (44,039) leads the show.
