Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Amit Mishra was one of those talented spinners who couldn't find their spot in the Indian team due to the presence of Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh. A leg-spinner by trade, Mishra's ability to turn and spin the ball along with his odd googlies made him an exciting spinner to watch. Making his international debut in 2003 in an ODI against South Africa, Mishra had to wait till 2008 to make his Test debut against Australia. In the second match of that series against Australia, he became only the sixth Indian to pick up five wickets on Test debut. Soon after that, Kumble retired from the Indian team, leaving Mishra as the first option to replace him. However, Mishra's ability to pick wickets was dependent on his ability to turn the ball and his inability to generate turn from unfriendly pitches pushed him down the pecking order. Mishra played his last Test match and his last ODI match in 2016. However, he has produced some stellar bowling performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and is the only bowler to take three hat-tricks in the tournament's history. He's been playing for the IPL team Delhi Capitals since 2015.
