Hailing from Perth in Western Australia, Andrew Tye can be described as a modern-day limited-overs specialist. Somewhat of a late bloomer in the domestic circuit, Tye played his first List A match at the age of 26 for Western Australia in the 2013-14 Ryobi Cup. He was the second-highest wicket-taker in that tournament. Tye's performance in the Ryobi Cup caught the eye of the BBL team, Sydney Thunder. In the 2014-15 BBL, he made major contributions to eventual champions Perth Scorchers' title run. His success in BBL resonated across the ocean in India as well. In 2015, he was part of the Chennai Super Kings squad but didn't make his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut until 2017. On his IPL debut for Gujarat Lions, he took five wickets and posted the best bowling figures for a debutant in IPL. In the subsequent IPL season, he became the leading wicket-taker of the season while playing for Kings XI Punjab. Tye made his international debut in 2016 in a T20I match against India. In 2018, he made his ODI debut for Australia against England. A bowler capable of putting immense pressure on batsmen toward the end, Tye is still to find his feet in international cricket.
