Asitha Fernando shines vs India, claims four-fers in successive Tests

India declared their first innings at a commanding 503 for nine on Day 2 of the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo. The declaration came after Dhruv Jurel scored his second Test century, a solid knock of 115 runs off 177 balls. While most of the Lankan bowlers had a hard time, pacer Asitha Fernando trapped four batters. Here we look at his performance and stats.

On Day 1, Fernando opened his account by the vital wicket of opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (45), which also led to an on-field spat.
Skipper Shubman Gill (50) also fell to him later on as Ravindra Jadeja (43) was his final victim on Day 1.
His only wicket on Day 2 was of Saransh Jain as India finished at 503/9d.

Fernando was Sri Lanka's best bowler in this innings, claiming four wickets for 106 runs across 29 overs.
The pacer was impressive in the series opener as well, returning with 2/63 & 4/31.
The pacer's latest four-fer has taken him to 97 wickets across 28 Tests at an average of 26.74 (5W: 3, 4W: 7).

Two wickets each for Jayasuriya, Nuwantha
Spin twins Prabath Jayasuriya and Keshara Nuwantha were also among the wickets, striking twice apiece. The former's 42 overs resulted in 132 runs. Nuwantha, meanwhile, returned with 1/154 from 38 overs. Lahiru Kumara (1/68 from 20 overs) was the only other wicket-taker.
