    Veteran women's tennis ace Serena Williams has been a revelation for rising stars in a glorious career so far. The 23-time singles Grand Slam champion has continued to excel and produce a scintillating brand of tennis. Serena has scripted many unbreakable records in her career and there have been many defining moments. Here we look at her best career moments.

    Williams wins the US Open 1999 as a 17-year-old teenager

    Williams made her professional debut aged 14. She won her first singles title in France against Amélie Mauresmo in 1999. At the age of 17, Williams defeated Martin Hingis in the 1999 US Open final. That was her maiden Grand Slam title. In 2001, Serena was up against her elder sister Venus at the US Open final. Over 23 million viewers watched the tie.

    2002 was a grand year for Serena

    Serena has seven Wimbledon honors and the memory of the first one will always be special. The victory came in 2002 against Venus, who was defeated in straight sets at the All England Tennis Club. Williams become world number one for the first time. She won the French Open, Wimbledon and US Open in 2002. Williams finished 2002 with a 56-5 W/L record.

    The 'Serena Slam' and 2007 Australian Open

    Serena started 2003 by pocketing the Australian Open. With that she managed to seal four Slams in a row. That was termed as the 'Serena Slam'. That year, Serena also won her second successive Wimbledon honor. Between 2004-2006, Serena won just one Slam. Another big moment came when she beat Maria Sharapova to win the 2007 Australian Open after comeback from injury.

    2012 Olympics gold, second 'Serena Slam' and surpassing Graf

    Serena bagged the 2012 Olympics gold medal in London at her favorite venue - Wimbledon. In 2014, Serena bagged the US Open and followed it up with three successive Slams in 2015. This was her second 'Serena Slam'. In 2017, Serena was eight weeks pregnant when she won her seventh Australian Open title. That was her 23rd Slam as she surpassed Steffi Graf.

    Other impressive moments in Serena's career

    Serena has also pocked 14 women's doubles Grand Slam honors. Interestingly, she has a 14-0 record in the finals with her sister Venus. In 2019, she partnered Andy Murray at the mixed doubles in Wimbledon. Although, they exited early, seeing them play together was a joy. In 2019, she also reached a Grand Slam final for the 13th consecutive year.
