IPL: RPS bowlers destroy RCB to win by 27 runs

Rising Pune Supergiant bowlers destroyed Royal Challengers Bangalore batting line-up to win the match by 27 runs. RCB got a good start from their top order, but continued to lose regular wickets after Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers departed. Ben Stokes and Shardul Thakur picked up three wickets each to help RPS register a victory after three back-to-back losses.

RCB, RPS both look to get back to winning ways

After a series of losses, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rising Pune Supergiant look for a win as they meet each other at Bengaluru's M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. While both the teams have played good cricket, they have failed to win the matches. In their past two outings last year, RCB have outplayed RPS to win both the games.

Match of the top ranked players

The RCB vs RPS match will feature ICC's top-ranked test batsman Steve Smith, number one ODI batsman AB de Villiers and top T20 batsman Virat Kohli. Apart from the top ranked batsmen, the encounter also has top-ranked ODI and T20 bowler Imran Tahir.

Pune manage to score 161 runs as middle order tumbles

RPS got a good start from their opening batsmen. Ajinkya Rahane and Rahul Tripathi put on 63 runs for first wicket. Rahane scored 30, while Tripathi hit 31 runs. For the third wicket, MS Dhoni and Steve Smith put on a 58-run partnership, after which the middle order of the RPS collapsed. A quick 27-runs from Manoj Tiwary helped Pune to score 161 runs.

24,000 career runs for MS Dhoni

Former captain of Indian cricket team Mahendra Singh Dhoni completed 24,000 runs across all formats in his cricketing career as he went on to score 28 runs off 25 balls against RCB.
