A calm player, but a rapid run scorer

In the last ODI against England at the Lord's yesterday, Amla became the quickest batsman to reach the mark of 7000 runs in 150 ODI innings from 153 matches, breaking Virat Kohli's record of 161 innings. Incidentally, Hashim Amla is also the quickest player to reach 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 and 6000 runs in the one day international matches.

In his nine year ODI career, Hashim Amla has scored 7032 runs in 150 innings, at an average of 50.22 and a strike rate of 89.23. He has scored 24 centuries as well as 33 half centuries. Amla's average, when South Africa has won the match, has been 64.01, just two point less than South Africa's blasting batsman AB de Villiers.

Amla's recent performances

In the 2017 Indian Premier League, Amla was part of Kings XI Punjab's squad. He played 10 matches and scored 420 runs, including two centuries. He was the only batsman to score two centuries in the IPL. Unfortunately, both his centuries went in losing cause. Amla scored 152 runs in the recent three-match series against England, hitting two half centuries.
