Indian cricketer Jaydev Undakat has been at the receiving end of high expectations from everyone associated with him: coaches, teams, selectors, players, etc. He had the talent that warranted such expectations, but he lacked the consistency to make those expectations become a reality. A left-arm medium-pacer with the ability to swing the ball both ways, Unadkat broke into the scene after leading the Indian bowling lineup in the 2010 U-19 World Cup. Soon after the World Cup, he received an IPL contract and became a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2010. In the same year, Unadkat made his international debut in a Test against South Africa. His hope of a dream debut was shattered by the South African batsmen. Unadkat made his ODI debut in 2013 against Zimbabwe in the backdrop of some strong domestic performances. Unadkat's best year in IPL came for Rising Pune Supergiants in 2017. Although reduced to a fringe player for India, Unadkat has performed consistently in the domestic circuit. He topped the wicket-taking chart in the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy with 67 wickets.
