IPL 2020: Five Indian U-19 players who could succeed

Team India fared well in the recently-concluded ICC U-19 World Cup despite a painful loss to Bangladesh in the final. Prior to that, five players out of the junior Indian contingent clinched the coveted Indian Premier League (IPL) contract. The young guns will be hoping to make an impact in the upcoming edition. Here's more.

Spin sensation Bishnoi could be pivotal for KXIP

A lanky leg-spinner, Ravi Bishnoi was the highest wicket-taker of the ICC U-19 World Cup. The youngster was the chief architect of India's comeback in final against Bangladesh, as he scalped four wickets. Bought by the Kings XI Punjab for a whopping Rs. 2 Crore, Bishnoi might prove lethal on the wavered Indian tracks with his sharp googlies.

Jaiswal would fancy his chances after a terrific tournament

The stylish southpaw became India's second-highest run-scorer in U-19 World Cup history. He amassed 400 runs in 6 innings at an average of 133.33. In 2019, he became the youngest Indian to score a list A double hundred. Yashasvi, who was picked by Rajasthan Royals for Rs. 2.40 crore, could be a potential for the opening slot with no Ajinkya Rahane on offer.

Kartik proved his mettle in the tournament

The Indian speedster became the toast of the town after India's quarter-final encounter against Australia. His four-wicket haul handed India an emphatic victory in the match. Banking on Tyagi's ability to clock over 140 kph, Rajasthan Royals bought him for Rs. 1.30 crore in the auction. He could complement their pace battery with Jofra Archer's availability already in doubt.

SRH could use Priyam in the middle order

Indian U-19 skipper Priyam Garg didn't get much chances to bat in the tournament, but his domestic record speaks volumes about his stature. He scored a double hundred in his Ranji Trophy debut against Goa before being secured by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs. 1.9 crore in the auction. The right-handed batsman could well fill the void in SRH's middle order.

Akash would want to grab every opportunity in the IPL

Rajasthan Royals also placed their bet on Akash Singh after buying him for Rs. 20 lakh. The 17-year-old snapped up seven wickets in six matches for India in the coveted U-19 World Cup in South Africa. The left-arm seamer may not be a certain starter in the playing XI, but his propensity to extract extra pace and bounce could be lucrative for Rajasthan.
