Can Mehidy Hasan Miraz help Bangladesh in Australia Test series?
What's the story
Bangladesh's all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored an unbeaten century on the opening day of a three-day practice match against Cricket Australia XI at Darwin. The innings, which was his first in these conditions, was a timely reminder of his worth after losing his ODI captaincy last month and facing criticism for not making noteworthy contributions. A ton from Mehidy's bat and Cricket Australia XI's response

However, Mehidy came to the rescue with an unbeaten century.
He first added 30 runs with Hasan Mahmud before sharing a vital last-wicket stand of 69 runs with Khaled Ahmed (15), taking Bangladesh to a total of 263 in 75.5 overs.

Post-match remarks
Mehidy adapts to unfamiliar conditions
After the day's play, Mehidy credited his innings to patience and adapting to unfamiliar conditions.
"It was a bit challenging at the beginning. I just tried to play according to merit. Their bowlers bowled in very good areas," he said, as per Cricbuzz.
The Bangladesh all-rounder also revealed that he focused on understanding the wicket rather than scoring quickly in his first outing in these conditions.
Future plans
Confidence boost for Mehidy
The unbeaten century has given Mehidy a much-needed confidence boost ahead of the first Test against Australia.
"Of course, with a Test match coming up, this century will give me confidence. If I can continue with the mindset I had today, it will be good for me. It will also be good for the team," he said after his innings in Darwin.
