Mohammad Hafeez has always been an enigma. Nothing else explains his absence from the national team till 2010 after making his debut in 2003. He consistently marveled and frustrated cricket fans with this talent. Hafeez made his international debut in an ODI against Zimbabwe in 2003. In the same year, he made his Test debut against Bangladesh. Although he started in a good fashion, his failure to convert his good starts meant that he was out of the Test team for six years, from 2003-2010. Hafeez did not give up though. On the back of an impressive domestic season in 2010, he made a return to the national team in 2010. The next year proved to be the best in his career as he won ten Man-of-the-Match awards. In the same year, he became only the third player to score more than 1,000 runs and take more than 30 wickets in ODIs in a calendar year. A more than a handy off-spinner, his bowling was what made the selectors choose him when his batting went through dry spells. Hafeez has also led the team in all three formats.
