Football: PSG reclaim Ligue 1 title in an emphatic style

Paris Saint-Germain are the French Champions once again. The Paris outfit won the Ligue 1 title after thrashing defending champions Monaco 7-1 in a completely one-sided game on Sunday. It is the fifth time in six seasons that Paris Saint-Germain have been crowned French champions. Overall, this is their 7th Ligue 1 title.

Monaco's title defense crumpled as PSG scored 4 goals in the opening half and then they added 3 more in the second to complete the rout. The 7-1 thrashing at the Parc des Princes was so humiliating for the Monaco fans that the club vice president has offered to refund the ticket prices to all the visiting fans.
The Parisians have been mind-blowing since the opening day of the season. They showed their intent to regain the Ligue 1 title at the start of the season. The lost just 2 games in the entire season and have scored 103 goals. Last year's champions Monaco are the closest to PSG on second place but are a massive 17 points adrift from them.

PSG have won the title with 5 games to spare and have completed the domestic double after thrashing Monaco to win the Coupe de la Ligue in March. Despite the double, manager Unai Emery is likely to be sacked because of the failure in the Champions League. Former Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel has reportedly been roped in as his replacement.
