South Africa's Kagiso Rabada suffers hamstring injury ahead of summer
What's the story
South African cricket star Kagiso Rabada has suffered a right hamstring injury during his winter training. The setback has "disrupted" his program, although it remains unclear if the injury will affect his availability for the upcoming season, as per Cricinfo. Cricket South Africa confirmed that Rabada will undergo further assessments ahead of what is expected to be South Africa's biggest summer.
International schedule
Namibia T20I tri-series and ODIs
The international season kicks off next week with South Africa touring Namibia for a T20I tri-series also involving Zimbabwe, and three ODIs against Namibia.
However, Rabada and other frontline players, including captains Temba Bavuma and Aiden Markram, have been left out of the traveling squad to manage their workload amid a busy schedule.
Home series
Australia, Bangladesh, and England Tests
South Africa will host Australia for ODIs and three Tests starting September.
Rabada's presence will be crucial for these matches, as well as other red-ball assignments against Bangladesh and England from November to January.
His last major injury was a rib concern that kept him out of South Africa's Tests against India in late 2025.
