Virat Kohli is the best batsman presently, feels Shivnarine Chanderpaul
Former West Indian batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul heaped praise on Virat Kohli. In an interview to Sportstar, Chanderpaul termed the Indian skipper the best batsman in the present scenario. He stated that Kohli's zeal and passion towards the game has made him reach the pinnacle. The 31-year-old recently went through a lean patch in the New Zealand tour. Here is more.
Kohli is the one who always wants to do well
"Obviously, it's Virat Kohli. He has been working on all the aspects of his game, and the results are showing. He is working hard on his fitness; he works on his skills. He always wants to do well," the left-hander said.
Kohli struggled against the Kiwi bowlers across formats
Virat Kohli had a horrific outing in the recently concluded New Zealand tour across formats. He could score mere 38 runs in the Test series at an average of 9.50, his worst in an away series. Overall, Kohli racked up 218 runs from 11 innings at 19.81 in the tour. This was his lowest tally on a tour wherein he played all three formats.
Chanderpaul hails Kohli for his consistency
In spite of having a forgettable New Zealand tour, Kohli still averages over 50 in all three formats. Chanderpaul feels it is not easy to maintain such consistency for long. "You have to give credit to him. It's never easy to stay at the top of your game for so long. You got to put in your hard work," he added.
Javed Miandad highlights Kohli's humility
Pakistan legend Javed Miandad also praised the Indian captain for his humility in a video posted on Youtube. 'Whenever he wants to score, he can. He is powerful and has the ability to clear the ropes easily," said Miandad. He added, "The best thing about him is that he is humble. It is visible that he loves his cricket and respects his fellow cricketers."
