India eye number one spot in ODI rankings

The number one ODI ranking will be on the line when India take on South Africa in the 6-match ODI-series, scheduled to kick off from 1st February in Durban. The men in blue, who are currently ranked number two team in the world, with 6,680 points and 119 rating-points will look to overthrow table-toppers, South Africa. Here's how India can become number 1 team.

India will look to dethrone South Africa from top spot

Virat Kohli and company can become the number one ranked ODI team, if they manage to win the series 4-2 or with a better margin. On the other hand, South Africa will have to just draw the series to keep hold of the top rank. India are also at the risk of slipping behind 3rd-ranked England, if South Africa manage to beat India 5-1.

AB de Villiers can overthrow Kohli from the top position

Virat Kohli will have a chance to extend his lead in the ODI batsmen rankings. Kohli is currently at 876 points and considering the current form the right handed batsman is in, he is likely to extend his lead over other batsmen. However, AB de Villiers, who is currently 4 points behind the Indian captain, has a slight chance to dethrone King Kohli.

South Africa vs India ODIs to begin from 1st February

India will take on South Africa in the first ODI on 1st of February in Durban, followed by the second ODI on 4th in Centurion. The third ODI will be played on 7th in Cape Town, while the fourth will be held on 10th in Johannesburg. Fifth and sixth ODIs will be held on 13th and 16th in Port Elizabeth and Centurion respectively.
