The Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction was held in New Delhi on Thursday. A total of ₹40.8 crore was spent as teams secured 67 players with 23 of them being overseas names. India's World Cup-winning hero Deepti Sharma emerged as the costliest buy after UP Warriorz re-acquired her using their Right to Match (RTM) card for ₹3.2 crore. Deepti is now the second-highest-paid Indian player in WPL history, just ₹20 lakh behind Smriti Mandhana. She was the most expensive buy in this auction. Mumbai Indians Women spent ₹3 crore on Amelia Kerr. The player's base price was ₹50 lakh. UP Warriorz also spent ₹2.4 crore on veteran all-rounder Shikha Pandey, who last played for India in 2023. Sophie Devine was the 4th-most expensive player. She was bought by Gujarat Giants for ₹2 crore.
