Chinese state media warns Quad against South China Sea
Ahead of the upcoming Quad summit in Manila, Chinese state-backed media has warned India, Japan, Australia, and the US not to bring up the South China Sea.
The meeting lines up with the ASEAN summit on November 16 and marks the first Quad leaders' gathering in two years.
US secretary of state Marco Rubio said the leaders of the grouping will meet in the Philippines, and President Donald Trump will be there before heading to China for APEC.
Global Times highlights India's balancing strategy
China's Global Times called the summit a "this small circle, which had been dormant for two years, has finally been dusted off and brought back from the freezer by the US administration" against them and said any talk about the South China Sea would face "China will inevitably oppose it resolutely."
The editorial also pointed out India's ability to keep its own strategy, balancing stronger ties with both China and its Quad partners, even as regional tensions run high between China and the Philippines.
