Heavy rain floods 70,000 Gaza tents, injures and displaces residents
Heavy rain hit Gaza this week, flooding about 70,000 tents where people displaced by war have been living.
The sudden downpour flooded shelters while the collapse of dozens of cracked walls and roofs caused injuries, forcing many families to leave their camps, especially in places like Gaza City.
Gaza civil defense seeks international aid
Gaza's emergency teams are overwhelmed, fielding more than 1,500 calls for help.
Civil defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal said they urgently need more resources and international support.
"We have issued an urgent distress call to the international community and humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately to save hundreds of thousands of displaced people from the flooding of their tents."
Meanwhile, aid groups warn that crowded camps and limited supplies could lead to disease outbreaks if restrictions on humanitarian aid aren't eased soon.
