Russia and Ukraine launch major strikes before Abu Dhabi talks
Things heated up between Russia and Ukraine this week, with both sides launching major missile and drone attacks right before U.S.-brokered peace talks set for November 10-11 in Abu Dhabi.
Russia hit Kyiv hard with 36 ballistic missiles and 172 Shahed-type drones, leaving six people dead, including a child, and causing big power outages.
In response, Ukraine struck back at a Russian oil refinery, causing major fires that damaged the facility.
Volodymyr Zelensky also pointed out that North Korean ballistic missiles were used to target energy facilities.
Ukraine Russia US to discuss independence
These upcoming talks will bring together officials from Ukraine, Russia, and the US (with Trump administration envoys leading the way).
A big focus will be on protecting Ukraine's independence, something President Zelensky says is non-negotiable as they discuss new European security plans.
With tensions high after these latest strikes, all eyes are on whether this round of negotiations can actually move things forward.
