Deadly blast in Pakistan's Balochistan shrine kills 12 people

What's the story

A suicide bomb blast inside the Fatehpur shrine in the Jhal Magsi district of Pakistan's Balochistan province has claimed the lives of at least 12 people while injuring 25 others. The explosion took place as "Urs" celebrations were underway. Several people had gathered to pay their respects. The death-toll is expected to rise as many of the injured are in a critical condition.

Bomber blew himself when stopped from entering shrine: District Official

Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti has directed the concerned authorities to respond to the situation immediately. A constable, who tried to stop the suicide bomber from entering the shrine, was killed as the attacker blew himself up. People usually gather in large numbers at the shrine on Thursdays. However, no terrorist group has so far claimed responsibility for the deadly attack.

Explosion took place after evening prayers

Security forces and police have reached the shrine and have cordoned off the area. Initial reports suggest that the suicide attack took place after evening prayers, at a time the devotees were performing the traditional "Dhamaal" dance.
