Trump names Stephen Miller chief of staff replacing Susie Wiles
Donald Trump just picked Stephen Miller, known for his tough policies, as his new White House chief of staff.
Miller replaces Susie Wiles after the Republicans's midterm loss.
He's made headlines before for calling out India's Russian oil purchases, saying in 2025 that it was "not acceptable" and accusing India of helping fund Russia's war in Ukraine.
Stephen Miller criticizes Indian tariffs, immigration
Miller hasn't held back on other issues either. He's criticized India over high tariffs on US goods and what he calls abuse of the US immigration system.
As a top figure in Trump's earlier team, he pushed to restrict immigration and tighten rules around skilled foreign workers and H-1B visas.
Even so, Miller has recognized Trump's connection with Prime Minister Modi.
Meanwhile, more Indian Americans are leaning Democrat lately, boosting their presence among the so-called Samosa Causus and adding new layers to U.S.-India relations under Trump.
