US asks Iraq to close nearly all Iran border crossings

The US has asked Iraq to close almost all border crossings with Iran, hoping to ramp up pressure on Tehran as things heat up in the region.
Iraqi officials, like Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, are worried this could make conflicts even more likely.
US warns Iraq about Iran-linked militias
Along with the border request, the US warned Iraq about militias linked to Iran operating inside its borders, threatening military action if these groups help Tehran in a renewed conflict, or sanctions if Iraq fails to make progress in bringing armed factions under government control by June 30, 2027.
Meanwhile, Iraq's prime minister is talking with militia leaders about disarming, trying to keep peace with both Washington and Tehran while making sure Iraqi land isn't used for any attacks.
