BMW X1 (facelift) launched in India at Rs. 36 lakh

BMW has launched the 2020 edition of its entry-level SUV, the X1, in India today. The facelifted version comes with a bunch of design as well as feature updates and is offered in four variants and two engine options. In India, the compact SUV starts at Rs. 35.90 lakh. Here's our roundup.

    A look at the 2020 BMW X1

The 2020 BMW X1 comes with an eye-catching design featuring an attractive front fascia with a bigger kidney grille, a muscular-looking front bonnet, and wide air intakes. The car houses silver-colored skid plates on both ends, revised bumpers, roof rails, and redesigned alloy wheels. Apart from that, it gets all-LED fitments for headlamps, turn indicators, and taillights.

    Inside the cabin

Inside, the 2020 BMW X1 offers a luxurious five-seater cabin with power-adjustable seats wrapped in leather, a new panoramic sunroof, and a multifunctional steering wheel. The car houses a floating 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Bluetooth, voice control and connectivity features. For safety, it gets driver and passenger airbags, ABS with EBD, and a rear-view camera with parking sensors.

    Power and performance

The updated BMW X1 is available with BS6-compliant 2.0-liter petrol as well as diesel engine options. The former is capable of producing 192hp of power and 280Nm of peak torque, while the latter churns out 190hp and 400Nm. The transmission duties on the car are taken care of by an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

And, how much does it cost?

The 2020 BMW X1 starts at Rs. 35.90 lakh for the sDrive 20i SportX variant and goes up to Rs. 42.90 lakh for the sDrive 20d M Sport model. At this price point, it takes on the likes of Audi Q3 and Volvo XC40.
