Ahead of launch, details of 2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan revealed
Prior to its debut on February 22, Autocar has revealed details of the 2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan. The upcoming car will be bigger than its predecessor. It shall sport cosmetic updates inside-out and will offer a host of new tech features. It will be offered with a choice of mild-hybrid 4-cylinder petrol as well as diesel engines. Here's our roundup.
2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class: At a glance
The 2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class will have a sporty design, featuring a sloping roofline, a muscular bonnet, a blacked-out grille, a wide air dam, and sleek LED headlamps. It will be flanked by blacked-out B-pillars, chrome garnish around the windows, indicator-mounted ORVMs, and alloy wheels. As for the dimensions, it should have a wheelbase of 2,865mm and a length of 4,750mm.
A peek inside the cabin
The 2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class will have a 5-seater cabin inspired by the new S-Class. It will have four central air dams, a sunroof, multiple airbags, and a multifunctional power steering wheel. The sedan will also house a digital instrument cluster and a large central MBUX touchscreen infotainment system with support for augmented reality and over-the-air (OTA) software updates.
Power and performance
The C300de diesel and C300e petrol plug-in hybrid models will pack a 25.4kWh battery, implying an electric-only range of more than 100km. The C300 4Matic will have a 255hp, 2.0-liter turbo-petrol mill with a 20hp integrated starter-generator. An over-boost function will generate an extra 27hp for up to 30 seconds. The mill shall be linked to a 9-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system.
What about the pricing?
Details related to the pricing and availability of the 2021 Mercedes-Benz C-Class will be revealed at the launch event on February 22. However, it is expected to carry a price-tag of around £40,000 (approximately Rs. 40.28 lakh) in the UK.
