What's the story

BMW has removed the M5 sedan from its official website in India, hinting at an imminent launch of the facelifted model in the country. Unveiled in June last year, the performance-oriented M5 (facelift) will draw power from a twin-turbo V8 engine. It comes with a slew of changes including a refined chassis, updated styling, and added in-car technology. Here's our roundup.

The BMW M5 (facelift) features redesigned bumpers, a carbon fiber roof, a double bar grille, updated air dams, and quad exhaust pipes at the back. For lighting, there are new LED lamps with twin L-shaped DRLs on the front and smoked LED light signature on the rear. On the sides, it is flanked by blacked-out ORVMs as well as B-pillars and sporty alloy wheels.

Power and performance

Under the hood, the facelifted BMW M5 will be backed by a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 motor that produces 592hp of maximum power and 750Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties on the sedan will be handled by an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

A peek inside the cabin

The BMW M5 (facelift) offers a spacious cabin with leather seats, a dual-tone dashboard, ambient lighting, and a multifunctional steering wheel. It packs a fully-digital instrument console and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and the 7th-generation iDrive system. For safety, the car has seven airbags, a 360-degree-view camera, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

The official pricing and availability details of the BMW M5 (facelift) will be revealed at the launch event, which is expected to happen soon. However, for reference, the current-generation M5 was launched at Rs. 1.54 crore (ex-showroom).
