    What's the story

To comply with the upcoming emission norms, Hero MotoCorp has launched its first BS6-compliant vehicle, the Splendor iSmart, in India at Rs. 64,900.

The new model now comes with a fuel-injected engine and produces 10% more torque as compared to the outgoing variant.

It is available in a single variant with front disc and rear drum brakes.

    Here's all about it.

    Design

Hero Splendor iSmart: At a glance

The new Splendor iSmart sits on a diamond-type frame and features a semi-faired design with a dual-tone color scheme, flat seat, and split grab rails.

The motorcycle gets a digital-analog instrument cluster along with a halogen headlamp and blacked-out alloy wheels with body-colored accents.

It is available in three color options: Blue, Red, and Grey.

    Internals

    Power and performance

The updated Splendor iSmart is powered by a BS6-compliant 113cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine which comes mated to a four-speed manual gearbox.

This unit is capable of producing 9bhp of power and 9.8Nm of peak torque, which is 10% more than the BS4 model.

The motorcycle also comes with the company's i3S technology (Idle-Stop-Start System) for fuel saving.

    Safety

Hero Splendor iSmart: On the road

On the safety front, the latest Splendor iSmart comes equipped with 240mm disc and 130mm drum brakes on the front and rear wheels, respectively.

The motorcycle houses conventional telescopic forks up front and dual shock absorbers on the rear for handling suspension duties.

Moreover, the motorcycle runs on 18-inch alloy wheels which are wrapped in 80/100-18 tubeless tires.

    How much?

    Finally, what is the pricing?

The BS6 Hero Splendor iSmart is priced at Rs. 64,900 in India, which is Rs. 8,000 costlier than the outgoing variant.

The updated model will reportedly be available at dealerships across the country in around a month.

Lastly, the commuter motorcycle goes up against rivals like Honda Shine and Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon.
