Delhi government to propose ₹5,000 scrappage for passenger e-rickshaw owners
Delhi may soon offer a proposal to give ₹5,000 to owners who scrap their passenger e-rickshaws registered between 2015 and 2022.
The idea is to swap out older vehicles for cleaner, newer models: just submit proof that your old ride was scrapped at an authorized facility, in the form of a certificate of deposit by an authorized scrapping facility, and you're good.
Delhi plan sets 250,000 permit cap
This update is also planning to introduce a limit of 250,000 e-rickshaw permits to help ease city traffic.
Plus, the government is considering a ₹15,000 scrappage incentive for Gramin Sewa vehicles, available only if owners switch to an advanced electric model within six months.
A new committee is also being considered to review and approve which EVs get subsidies.
The government wants the policy finalized in the next two weeks before sending it for Cabinet approval.
