India joins Mercedes-Benz top 15 global markets for 1st time
Big news for car fans: India is now one of Mercedes-Benz's top 15 global markets, a first in the brand's history.
The announcement came straight from board member Mathias Geisen during his Mumbai visit to launch the new plug-in hybrid S-Class.
Fun fact: India is also a top five market for the ultra-luxury Mercedes-Maybach lineup.
Mercedes-Benz 40% of Indian luxury sales
Mercedes-Benz sold about 20,000 cars in India, 40% of all luxury cars sold there.
A lot of that growth comes from rising incomes and more young people buying luxury rides.
The brand is doubling down on India with over 40 new models coming globally by 2027 (many headed our way) and already builds more than half of its Indian lineup locally.
Plus, electric models like the GLC are gaining traction as electric vehicle sales jump in Europe.
