Mahindra wants 1 in 4 SUVs to be electric by 2028

Auto

Mahindra is stepping up its EV game, aiming for electric vehicles to make up 20-25% of its SUV sales by 2027 or 2028—up from just 8% now.
This big push comes as they gear up to launch the new XEV 9S in January 2026 and look to ride the wave of growing EV demand and better charging options across India.

Fast-rising sales, bigger plans ahead

Mahindra's electric models like the BE6 and XEV 9e have already crossed 30,000 units sold and brought in ₹8,000 crore in just seven months—a sign that Indian drivers are definitely warming up to EVs.
To keep pace, Mahindra plans to boost production to 7,000 EVs a month by April 2026 and roll out a thousand new charging points by end-2027.
The upcoming XEV 9S will start at ₹19.95 lakh with smart INGLO tech under the hood for better value, though some sales may come at the expense of existing models.
